Financial growth training for NYCHA residents

NYCHA Resident Economic Empowerment and Sustainability (REES) | NYC Housing Authority (NYCHA)

1. How it Works

REES helps NYCHA residents improve their financial futures through hiring events, job training, financial literacy education, and programs on starting a business.

  • REES partners can help in many ways. Program areas are:
    • Adult education and training – adult basic education (ABE) classes, pre-High School Equivalency (Pre-HSE) programs, and English language learning programs.
    • Financial empowerment – services to help you reach financial stability.
    • Employment and career advancement – support to help you find a job.
    • resident business development – support to help you start a business.
  • REES can also help qualified residents access Earned Income Disallowance (EID), which can delay rent increases if your income goes up.

2. Determine your eligibility

Anyone who lives in NYCHA housing is eligible for REES.

However, the services that REES connects you to have different eligibility rules. The eligibility criteria for each program is on the Opportunity NYCHA site.

Take a short survey to see if you might be eligible for this or 30 other programs.
