How it works

Family and Community Engagement (FACE) Centers provide free support to young New Yorkers with disabilities.

Services are free for young people up to age 21 who have disabilities, their families, and their professional caregivers.

Services for young New Yorkers:

  • Guidance on navigating early childhood and school systems
  • Training on how to advocate for yourself in school meetings
  • Help planning your path after high school (college, work, job training, community activities)
  • Workshops and activities to build skills for living independently

Services for parents and caregivers:

  • Workshops on Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Guidance through the special education process
  • Information about college admissions
  • Support on accessing work and public benefits

Eligibility requirements

All NYC families who care for a child with disabilities are eligible to receive services for free. Trainings are open to everyone.
