Healthy food packages for older adults

Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) | NYS Department of Health (NYSDOH)

How it works

Adults ages 60 or older are eligible for monthly food packages if they earn below a certain income.

  • Once every month, you can pick up a food package at a CSFP distribution site. Packages can include cheese, milk, rice, pasta, cereal, canned vegetables, fruits, chicken or fish, and more.
  • During summer, you can also get additional benefits to buy fresh fruits and vegetables at farmers’ markets.
  • CSFP can also connect you to health care and social service agencies.
  • You can get CSFP even if you are receiving SNAP (food stamp) benefits.

To be eligible, you should be able to answer yes to these questions:

  1. Are you 60 years old or older?
  2. Are you a New York State resident?
    • You do not need to be a US citizen to receive CSFP benefits.
